About Richard Middleton
Richard Middleton is an award-winning songwriter, performer, producer, and teacher based in Seattle. He has played professionally throughout the U.S. for the past 26 years, both as a bandleader and as a sideman. His critically-acclaimed solo album, "Web," was released in 2002.
Richard is a versatile multi-instrumentalist and arranger, and has appeared as co-producer, arranger and performer (guitar, keys) on albums by numerous other artists, including Kym Tuvim, Reggie Garrett, Kathryn Mostow, Carrie Clark, and many more.
Richard taught songwriting at Cornish College of the Arts, and was the first teacher to develop a songwriting program there. He has taught music privately for 19 years (songwriting, guitar, piano). He's a former song contest judge, and was a music columnist and record reviewer for over 9 years.
As a student of songwriting himself, Richard has worked with Steve Seskin, Jerry Vandiver, Rick Carnes, and Jai Josefs. He earned his BFA in jazz piano from Cornish College of the Arts in 1989.
Richard has spearheaded projects to promote community and opportunity
among Seattle-area musicians. He is founder and editor of songspace.net,
the only site devoted exclusively to Seattle's performing songwriters.
